The perfect oatmeal bar

What I absolutely LOVE about this recipe, is that you can customise it the way you want!

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup dry oats

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

  • a handful of your favourite nuts (I'm using hazelnuts and pecan nuts)

  • 1 tbsp pumkin seeds

  • 2-3 tsp chia seeds

  • 1 tsp nigella seeds

  • Vanilla stick

  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 1/2 tsp cocoa powder

  • 1 tbsp flour

  • 3 large (medjool) dates

  • 1 egg

  • honey

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Mix all of your dry ingredients in a bowl. Add one cup of dry oats, half a cup of chocolate chips, a handful of your favourite nuts (crushed), 1 tablespoon of pumpkin seeds (or less), 2-3 teaspoons of chia seeds, 1 teaspoon of nigella seeds, 1 and a half teaspoon of cinnamon, 1 and a half teaspoon of cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon of flour and grind a little bit of vanilla on top and mix

  2. Add one egg to the dry ingredients and mix

  3. Add some honey (about 1 tablespoon or more)

  4. Preheat your oven 220 degrees Celcius (428 Fahrenheit)

  5. Now cut your dates in the middle and take out their pits/ seeds. In a separate bowl, mash up these three dates with a fork. You'll need a bit of strength for this. Mash and mix until it turns into a paste

  6. Add your dates to your bowl and mix it with your hand. You'll have to use your hands, because it won't properly mix with a fork

  7. Once all the ingredients are combined, place them on a baking sheet in a tray or baking mold of your choice

  8. Make sure to press the mixture flat

  9. Bake it in the oven for about 15 minutes or until golden brown

  10. Let it cool down and then cut into equal parts

Enjoy!
