How to make Fluffy Rice

Welcome to the first video of the Rice Rice, baby! -series, a series where we'll make all different kinds of rice! Rice is so versatile, so why not celebrate by dedicating an entirely new series to it? This fluffy rice recipe will never fail you. It’s super easy and delicious. The pastina adds a level of cuteness to the rice. And the best part? You don't even need a rice cooker!



INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup of rice

  • 1 1/2 cup of water

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp vegetable stock powder

  • 1 tbsp pastina

  • vegetable oil

  • Optional: yogurt

INSTRUCTIONS


PREPPING

  1. Place the rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse it under cold running water. Swirl the rice around with your hand while rinsing to remove excess starch. Continue rinsing until the water runs clear.

  2. Drain the rice. Shake the strainer to remove excess water, then let the rice drain for a few minutes to remove any remaining water.

  3. Prepare the Pot: Use a small- or medium-sized saucepan with a tight-fitting lid.

RICE

  1. Add about a tablespoon of vegetable oil to the pot

  2. Add the pastina. The pastina will start dancing and when it starts to turn light brown, add the rinsed and drained rice to the pot.

  3. Mix and then add your water. Add one teaspoon of salt and one teaspoon of vegetable stock powder. You can also use chicken stock. Mix again.

  4. Once the water starts to boil, lower the heat and cover the pot.

  5. In about 15 to 20 minutes, turn down the heat and without taking off the lid, let it steam for another 10-15 minutes

And there you have it! Fluffy and delicious rice. If you like the taste of rice and yogurt, you can add yogurt as a sauce and eat it like that!
